In-network

Insurance plans we’re in-network with

In-network means we have a contract with the plan, so your share is lower. The plans we’re in-network with are listed here.

We’re out-of-network with every other plan, including Humana and Anthem. You can still come: we give you a written estimate and file the claim for you, you pay at the visit, and your plan pays you back its share. Renee will check your benefits before you come in.

Medicaid and Medicare

Medicaid: yes

We’re enrolled with New York State Medicaid, including Medicaid managed-care plans and Child Health Plus, and we see patients of every age with them. Call us with your plan’s name and we’ll confirm it before your visit.

Medicare

Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine dental care. Some Medicare Advantage plans do. Tell us your plan and we’ll look at your benefits.

Payment

Paying for bigger treatment

We take cards, checks, cash and HSA and FSA cards. Before any treatment, you get a written estimate. You can ask for a good-faith estimate before treatment, at no charge.

For larger treatment we work with CareCredit, a credit card for health costs issued by a lender with its own terms. Some CareCredit offers charge no interest if you pay in full by a set date. If you don’t, interest is charged back to the day you started. Ask Renee before you apply, and we’ll go over the terms with you.

  • Good-faith estimate on request, at no charge
  • HSA and FSA cards welcome
  • Monthly payments through CareCredit, with its own terms

Using your benefits before December 31

Most dental plans reset on January 1, so what’s left of your yearly maximum disappears. A flexible spending account often does too, though some employers allow a grace period, so check with yours. Call us or come to our benefits help night on November 18 and Renee will read your plan with you.

Insurance questions

Which insurance plans do you take?

We’re in-network with Delta Dental (PPO and Premier), Cigna Dental, MetLife (PPO), Aetna Dental (PPO), Guardian and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield dental plans. We’re out-of-network with every other plan, though we still file the claim for you. See the Insurance & payment page for what each means for you.

Do you take Medicaid?

Yes. We’re enrolled with New York State Medicaid, including Medicaid managed-care plans and Child Health Plus, and we see patients of every age with them. Call us with your plan’s name and we’ll confirm before your visit. Original Medicare doesn’t cover routine dental care; some Medicare Advantage plans do, so ask us to check yours.

What if you’re out of network with my plan?

You can still come. We give you a written estimate, file the claim for you and you pay at the visit. Your plan then pays you back its share, usually in a couple of weeks. Out-of-network plans often pay less than in-network ones, which is why Renee checks your benefits for you first.

Paying without insurance

What if I don’t have insurance?

Many of our patients don’t. You can join our Smile Club, which is a membership and not insurance, pay the prices on our Services page, or use a monthly payment plan for bigger treatment. A new-patient visit with an exam, X-rays and a cleaning is $149 without insurance.

How does the Smile Club work?

Adults pay $39 a month ($420 if you pay for the year) and children under 14 pay $29 a month ($312 a year). It covers two exams, two cleanings and the X-rays you need each year, an emergency exam at no extra charge, and takes 15% off other treatment done here. It isn’t insurance and has no annual maximum. You can cancel any time by phone, email or at the desk, with no fee.

Do you offer payment plans or financing?

For larger treatment we work with CareCredit, a credit card for health costs issued by a lender, with its own terms. Some of its offers charge no interest if you pay in full by a set date, but if you don’t, interest is charged back to the day you started. Ask Renee before you apply, and we’ll go over the terms with you.

How much does a cleaning or an exam cost without insurance?

A routine exam is $65, bitewing X-rays are $55, and an adult cleaning is $115. All three together are $199. Anything beyond that depends on the tooth, so we quote it in writing after your exam. You can also ask us for a good-faith estimate before any treatment, and we’ll write one up at no charge.

Questions about your plan?

Ask Renee. She reads the booklets so you don’t have to.
